The Margru is a 14-foot cruising dinghy, once the tender of replica schooner, Amistad, used for the Amplitude of Time memoir series. Margru is named after a 10 year old African girl that was captured in West Africa and was aboard the slave ship Amistad when it made landfall in Culloden Point near Montauk, Long Island. Margru was converted to a cruising dinghy and used for several passages made for the memoir -- a story that begins in heyday of clamming on the Long Island's Great South Bay in the 1970s and ends with an account of Amistad visiting England, Africa and Cuba.
