inning best unproduced female driven TV pilot at weforshe.org in 2016 under its old
title "The Hunter and the Mystic". Also working on a feature film set in 1813 Alabama,
"When the Creeks rise" (commissioned).
As a writer/director and producer: Whitney’s films include: UNION premiering at the Sidewalk film fest and many others winning best director and best artistic spirit at the New Hope Film Festival. Distributed theatrically in the summer of 2019 by Indican Pictures and on VOD/DVD by Lionsgate. “A Rogue in Londinum” premiering at the Lucerne International Film Festival in October 2011 and winning Honorable Mention as Best Art Film at the New Hope Film Festival 2012. “My Brother’s War” premiered at the Methodfest Film Festival 2005 . It has North American distribution. It, too, was nominated as best Low-budget Indie and Best Actress for Whitney. It is still on Netflix DVD subscription. She completed two shorts: co-directing "Jeremy" (now on Revry.tv) with David Macke and directing and co-producing "TuLips". Her short Sci-Fi film “Circle” premiered at the NYSummer Shorts Festival 2002. “Circle” won second place as best sci-fi short at the Dragon Con Sci-Fi Film Festival in Atlanta 2003. It was nominated as best sci-fi short at the Shockerfest film festival in California. “The Bellwatcher” A short horror film premiered at the Film Fleadh in New York in March (2001) and Cinema 16 The New Orleans Film Festival. “The Delivery”, another horror short went on to the Seattle Underground Film Festival (2000).
As a writer Whitney has penned nine feature Screenplays: “The Immaculate Misconception”, (Optioned and produced by Other Side of the River Productions currently on Indieflix), Chasing DeKooning (commissioned), “UNION” – Placed third in the Newfest Screenplay Competition 2010, “In Search of the Monkey Girl “– Honorable Mention Slamdance Screenplay Competition, Elvis is Dead, Mapping the In Between, The Thistle Dwellers, The Watchers and Palisade (commissioned). She has also written eight full length plays and multiple short films and plays.
